Nina, although she's rather frosty with people, is instantly likeable. Nina is damaged in a way she doesn't even realise, she doesn't trust anyone except her best friend Lola and she definitely doesn't trust men. Until Connor forces himself into her life.

Connor is also instantly likeable, though admittedly if he sat next to me on the bus and asked the same questions he asked Nina I'd probably be just as short and sarcastic with him as she was. Although Nina admits to herself that she is attracted to Connor she does fairly well at holding him at arm's length. For a little while at least.

I do enjoy a good romance but the format for these books are usually pretty straightforward; girl meets boy, girl falls in love with boy, girl believes boy has betrayed her in some way, girl pushes boy away, time goes past and girl and boy meet up and make up and live happily ever after. Well imagine my surprise when I realise there is actually MORE to this story than the standard romance book.

This book is so easy to sink into, it's so well written that it's hard to believe that this is Herrera's first novel. If she can write something this enjoyable as her first attempt I look forward to reading what comes next.

I am a wife of a U.S Army Soldier and mother of a beautiful little girl. I work for the Wyoming Department of Revenue in Cheyenne Wyoming, and no we don't still ride horses out here. I've been in love with reading since I first discovered the Harry Potter series in 4th grade. I don't just read a good book I devour it. After reading hundreds of novels I finally bit the bullet and sat down to write one of my own. I had an idea in my head and as soon as I started writing, the story seemed to play out right infront of me. Nothing has ever felt so natural. About 10 chapters into it I decided that I was going to take the plunge and get it self published as an Ebook. "Sapphire Universe" is a Contemporary Romance novel for adults, because lets face it, I'm female. Romance is what I like to read so it's what I'm going to write. “I can’t have sex with you right now.” I blurt, eloquent as usual.

Connor raises his eyebrows and I can tell he’s trying to process this information. “Why do I get the feeling you’re not trying to tell me that it’s your time of the month.”

Now it’s my turn to be shocked. Nothing is off limits with this man. “Um...no its not.” I say embarrassed. “I wish it were that simple. I just want to wait till its right. It’s important to me to be sure it’s something I’m ready for and it’s a deal breaker.”

Connor takes a deep breath and reaches across the table for my hand. This is where the convincing starts. But baby, I just want to show you how much you mean to me. I promise it will only hurt for a second. You’re making this a big deal. It’s just sex. But when Connor speaks, it’s nothing like what Ricky said.

“Nina, I’m not going to lie and say I don’t want you, because I do. Desperately. But, that kiss you gave me earlier, I could live off those kisses. Actually, I’m sort of impressed.
Most girls these days are more eager than I am. As long as you let me kiss you and hold you and call you mine, I can wait for the rest. You call the shots on this Nina. Your rules, your pace. I meant it when I said I was patient. Especially when something is worth waiting for.”
