Lover Enshrined (Black Dagger Brotherhood #6) Review

LENLover Enshrined (Black Dagger Brotherhood #6) by J.R Ward

Synopsis

In this "frighteningly addictive" paranormal romance saga there's a war raging between vampires and their slayers. Here are the stories of a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. And now a dutiful twin must choose between two lives...

Fiercely loyal to the Black Dagger Brotherhood, Phury has sacrificed himself for the good of the race, becoming the male responsible for keeping the Brotherhood's bloodlines alive. As Primale of the Chosen, he is obligated to father the sons and daughters who will ensure that the traditions of the race survive, and that there are warriors to fight those who want all vampires extinguished.

As his first mate, the Chosen Cormia wants to win not only his body, but his heart for herself. She is drawn to the noble responsibility behind the emotionally scarred male. But Phury has never allowed himself to know pleasure or joy. As the war with the Lessening Society grows grim, tragedy looms over the Brotherhood's mansion, and Phury must decide between duty and love....

Lisa's Review - 5 out of 5 stars

Oh yeah! The hottest vamps are back! And book number 6 in the series does not let me down, in fact, this book is so full of action, drama, romance, happy moments, sad moments, it blew me away and even though I have said this with almost all of the Black Dagger Brotherhood books so far - I think this is my new favourite!

Its been no secret through the previous books that Phury has a drug addiction. And as Lover Enshrined focuses on him, we see him battling through his addiction, while also fighting his feelings for Cormia, his First Mate since becoming the Primale, a job Phury volunteered himself for to save one of his Brothers. I have made no secret myself before that a good book for me can be as emotive as real life, and Phurys journey had me angry, crying, and laughing, which shows the fantastic style of writing J,R Ward puts into her characters.

In all of the previous books, we have got to know the other characters as well as the main vampire that is the focus of the book. Lover Enshrined is no different, but the story if John Matthew, Qhuinn and Blay are as much of a focus as Phury's, without taking away from the main vamp. The three young vampires join the War in this book, and their story is as great as any of the Brothers, and it is really nice to watch these vampires grow, from their first appearances in the Black Dagger Brotherhood books as pretrans, to going through their transitions, to now growing into fully fledged fighting vampires.

Without giving anything away, if you have been as sucked in by these vampires and their lives as I have, there is a certain part of this book that really had me sobbing my heart out, in a good way! Actually, scrap that, there's two!

There is also a very interesting twist in the War with the Lessers, and I really cannot wait to see how it pans out in the next books!
