Review: Day 21 by Kass Morgan

Day 21 (The Hundred, #2) No one has set foot on Earth in centuries -- until now.
It's been 21 days since the hundred landed on Earth. They're the only humans to set foot on the planet in centuries...or so they thought. Facing an unknown enemy, Wells attempts to keep the group together. Clarke strikes out for Mount Weather, in search of other Colonists, while Bellamy is determined to rescue his sister, no matter the cost. And back on the ship, Glass faces an unthinkable choice between the love of her life and life itself.
In this pulse-pounding sequel to Kass Morgan's The 100, secrets are revealed, beliefs are challenged, and relationships are tested. And the hundred will struggle to survive the only way they can -- together.

Shona's review 4 of 5 stars

Day 21 starts up pretty much where The 100 leaves off and the story unfolds in pretty much the same format as before; split between what's happening now and what has happened before. I do like this as it allows so much more of the story to be told. In the first book they showed us the characters back story, and while they build on that in this book it allows us to see a more personal side to our main characters and links the characters in ways that we didn't think were possible.

There was so many things that happened in this book and I am dying to talk about them but... spoilers... GAH!
I loved the relationship between certain characters. And I'm really glad that the love triangle involving Bellamy, Clarke and Wells was not continued into this book. lets face it, Wells needed to accept that things were not going to happen with Clarke.
I loved the developments on the colony and cant wait to see how they play out.
I loved the discovery Clarke makes, and even though I predicted what was going to happen with that particular discover I was still able to enjoy it.
I have a sneaky suspicion that one of the 100 isn't all she seems to be, and think that certain people may need to watch their backs.

The reason I didn't give this a 5 star rating? I have to be honest and admit that the Earthborns didn't really live up to my expectations. I was kind of hoping for something similar to the TV shows 'Grounders' attacks, in reality we get very little in the way of Earthborn interaction. There were a few interactions that felt weird, didn't quite make sense, and because I refuse to leave spoilers I cant talk about it. I can only hope that is because they have something planned for the third book that will explain it.

I cant wait til the 3rd book comes out in February. And I cant wait for the second series to air in the UK. It will be interesting to see how both series develops since it's clear the TV show has taken a different path in its story telling.
