Review: Truly, Madly, Greekly by Mandy Baggot

Truly, Madly, Greekly: Sizzling summer readingSun, sea and a sexy stranger - a whole lot of fun just got a lot more complicated.
Capable, confident and career-driven, Ellen had her dream job and a marriage proposal from boyfriend Ross. Life was good, her future set. Until it wasn’t and everything fell apart…

Whisked off to the beautiful island of Corfu to plan her sister Lacey’s big, fat, Greek wedding, Ellen is hoping some time out will help clear her head and heal her heart. But letting go of her past is not going to be easy.

With Lacey in full on Bridezilla mode, Ellen is soon distracted from her own problems. And when the all-inclusive treats on offer at hotel Blue Vue include one gorgeous, brooding Adonis – Yan – Ellen finds him difficult to resist.

But Ellen isn’t looking for love or lust, or anything involving too much ouzo…or is she?

For someone who loved this book I'm having a hard time putting down in words what I want to say. This book pulled me in from the very beginning, and I got annoyed with everyone and everything around me that tried to distract me from reading.... I sat up until after 3am reading because I couldn't put the book down and the only reason I stopped reading was because the book ran out of words for me to read. Look up the definition of page turner in the dictionary and you will find it next to a picture of Truly, Madly, Greekly.

Baggot has done a great job of setting the scenes for the reader... I could almost feel the sun on my face and feel the sand beneath my feet (although that could have been sleep deprivation and wishful thinking). And the characters are great. They are far from perfect, they each have issues in their past they would rather nobody found out about (no spoilers)... and despite those secrets they keep hidden from others, they find themselves drawn to each other and opening up in ways they never thought they would.

I've never really understood when people have said "fab beach reads" before but this... this is the ideal book to read just before you go on holiday to get you in the mood.

What is there not to like about this book! A fab summer read, that sucks you in from start to end, with fantastic details that set the scene perfectly! Be warned though, you may be tempted to book a Corfu holiday after reading!

Fantastic, well written characters, you cannot help yourself being sucked into the world of Ellen and Lacey, on a holiday to plan Lacey's wedding. Although things are not as happy as they seem in everyone's life's and in the web of secrets is where you will find yourself caught unable to put the story down until you know what is happening!

Then you have Yan! The sexy Bulgarian, with secrets of his own, who finds himself drawn to Ellen....you will have to grab a copy of the book to finds out what happens!

A definite fab summer read! Highly recommended!
