Author interview and spotlight: Tommy Crown

In the interview today is the wonderful Tommy Crown. Tommy was born in Texas and raised all over the world. His teen years were spent in California where he graduated from Hollywood High. Then it was off to to Las Vegas and UNLV where he graduated with a degree in marketing. Then to New York and NYU where he got another degree in journalism. He tends to write things that men can read while getting a haircut, or women under hair dryers, and naturally those drop cloths are long for a reason.
For you stalkers, here are all of Tommy’s social media links. Be sure to follow him and say hi! Tommy loves talking to his fans.

Hello Tommy and welcome to Booky Ramblings of a Neurotic Mom
Was there anything particular that inspired you to start your journey of being an author?
I'm an ex cop that got tired of car chases and shooting matches. I figured there must be another way to support myself. That's inspiration.

What would you say is the hardest part of writing/publishing a book for you?
There is no hard part to writing other than my typing's not as fast as I'd like. Publishing as an independent is tough. Lots of competition for basically the same audience, although my books are seriously unlike others.

If you could only read four books for the rest of your life, what would they be?
The Bible has it all.
Gone With The Wind because I love the south.
Mississippi Mud because it's non fiction and I knew most of the principle characters.
Love With A Chance of Drowning because of my love of sailing.

Do you and your main character share any personality traits?
There's a good chunk of me in all my male leads.

If you could live in any book what book would it be?
I'd dig the life of Sergio and Electra Nike from Ultimate Milf. They had it all in spades and managed NOT to fuck it up.

Where do your ideas for your books come from? Dreams? Music?
Sights, sounds, smells, a neatly turned phrase. Often music. My Eyes Adore You for example.

Any advice for aspiring authors?
Be bold. Be different. Don't think you're writing the newest best seller because you're not. Don't give up. Keep writing. And don't listen to fools. Do your own thing your way.

Reckless

Alexis Cole was born in the Tennessee hills as a result of her waitress mother's fooling around with trucker's during her dinner breaks. A victim of her trailer park environment and with no real guidance from her mother, young Alexis follows in her mother's footsteps. But, she had no interest in truckers. Her sights were higher. She went after older men with money and that was her ticket out of the Tennessee hills to Beverly Hills. After a string of failed marriages and countless meaningless affairs and one night stands, she reevaluates her life and begins her quest to find Mr. Right. She finds that journey frightening when she is almost gang raped, but saved at the last second by a mysterious biker named Zeke. It was a combination of lust and love at first sight for her, but men like Zeke aren't so easy to tame. He was ruggedly handsome with long hair, big arms, and heavily tattooed. Women swooned over him like a rockstar. It was during a visit to his grandmothers high upon a mountain that Alexis finally knew he was Mr. Right. Unfortunately, he didn't see it that way and the couple go their separate ways. She travels to Las Vegas to find her missing father who was now working as an Elvis impersonator, she learns of a late night radio program that sets the stage for a powerful and tearful conclusion.
