Spotlight and Review: The Quarter Change by Kiarra M. Taylor

The-Quar-ter- Change:
/T͟Hē, ˈkwôrdər, CHānj/
Noun
A drastic personality change brought on by a person’s upcoming twenty-fifth birthday and the realization that they have been EXISTING for a quarter of a century but not LIVING.
Kimbella Tyler is done floating through life…
She’s turning twenty-five in a few weeks, and even though she’s in the prime of her life, living by the motto “Keep head down or in a book” hasn’t exactly been fun. Sick of hanging in the background of life, Kimbella embarks on a mission to leave her introverted ways in the past and live by a new motto—“Liquor. Lust. Living.”. The first step in her mission is to change her surroundings. Armed with her “Quarter List” full of fun local attractions and wild, adventurous things that she was always too introverted to do, Kimbella heads to California for two weeks of no holds barred fun.

An unlisted attraction…
Kimbella’s carefully laid plans are interrupted when she meets the crazy sexy Dr. Roman Tanzman and he attaches himself to her at the hip. Rolling with the punches for once in her life, Kimbella takes Roman along as she goes on the adventure of a lifetime—well the adventure of a quarter of a lifetime.
Liquor. Lust. Love…?
Kimbella's new life is one she’s always dreamed about; filled with hot nights with Roman, endless fancy dinners and dancing and no shortage of liquor. But with Kimbella pretending to be a bold, outgoing and sexually forward woman, and Roman pretending to be a carefree guy who isn’t going through the most trying time of his life, their facades have the potential to be their very undoing. Liquor and lust were part of the plan—love certainly wasn’t.

Zoe's Review 4 of 5 stars

Reading the blurb for this book, I was pleased to receive it for review. Just what I needed; I thought, after some harder reads - something light and (hopefully) with a happy ending.

I found it a little hard to get into at first but that could just be because I'd had to push through my last book which almost ended up being my first ever DNF so try not to read too much into that.

The story is good, light, funny, refreshing and exactly right for a little break from the norm...what I'd class as a holiday read. There were ups and downs in the characters lives; of course, but ultimately it took me on a little journey - with Kimbella and Roman doing some of those things I wish I had the guts to do!

Their initial meeting and subsequent interactions were hilarious at points - written just exactly how some of us would actually behave (or dream of behaving) without thinking about it and I laughed out loud!

Ultimately, this book is a well written, well edited (thank heavens), well thought-out story and I'd be happy to read anything else this author writes.

Clare's Review 5 of 5 stars

I chose this book, really as a luck of the draw and I am really glad I did! I felt this book was written well and in a realistic way, following the story of Kimbella who is going through what could be viewed as an identity crisis, something which I can definitely relate to and so can many other people!

Roman is hurting and when he meets Kimbella who introduces herself in a spectacular fashion, he can't help but begin feeling things he hadn't anticipated. As the story moves on he try's to push away the feelings he is having and she starts to feel things she doesn't want to, a recipe for disaster!

I enjoyed the story between Kimbella and Roman, I felt their characters interacted well and I felt that their emotions and feelings were genuine. I did feel sorry for Kimbella at certain points, she came across as being very lonely, especially with her mother and brother being so busy. It was fairly obvious in many ways that they were going to be good for each other, but I'm glad they found themselves before diving into a relationship! All in all, a well written fun story, excellent character interaction and a really enjoyable storyline. I would recommend this for anyone looking for a little romance and some fun!
