Hopeless romantic Eva Jordan loves everything about Christmas. She might be spending the holidays alone this year, but when she's given an opportunity to house-sit a spectacular penthouse on Fifth Avenue, she leaps at the chance. What better place to celebrate than in snow-kissed Manhattan? What she didn't expect was to find the penthouse still occupied by its gorgeous—and mysterious—owner.
Bestselling crime writer Lucas Blade is having the nightmare before Christmas. With a deadline and the anniversary of his wife's death looming, he's isolated himself in his penthouse with only his grief for company. He wants no interruptions, no decorations and he certainly doesn't appreciate being distracted by his beautiful, bubbly new housekeeper. But when the blizzard of the century leaves Eva snowbound in his apartment, Lucas starts to open up to the magic she brings…This Christmas, is Lucas finally ready to trust that happily-ever-afters do exist?
Claires review 5 of 5 starsTechnically this is a Christmas book, although I read it in parts over a few months as I had a few other books I had to read at the same time so this kept returning to the shelf in between.
This book is about Eva, an event planner who dreams of having a happy ever after, and Lucas, a crime writer who is struggling to write his newest novel, that was until Eva walked into his life after being hired to decorate his penthouse for Christmas by his Grandmother who Eva has been walking her dog for and made a friendship with. Lucas is hiding lots of secrets of his own.
This was a lovely story! I loved the relationship between Eva and Lucas, they were a perfect match for each other and good for helping each other overcome the grief they had both been carrying around.
The writing in this book is so good and addictive that you can really feel as if you step into the pages and know the characters personally, and wanting to push them on the right path with each other.
I read this book as a standalone, and didn't realise at the time that it was part of a series, and I now can't wait to fit in the rest of the series!
