The Wind Weeps
Andrea leaves big-city boredom in Ontario to search for love and adventure on B.C.’s rugged coast. The love of two men and a woman leads her into the world of commercial fishing. She is drawn into a rough life alternating between savage beauty and serenity. But when adventure turns to terror, and Andrea’s survival is threatened, will her newly acquired wilderness skills be enough to save her life?
The Wind Weeps is a pure Canadian tale of love, betrayal, and triumph, told with gusto, humour, and bold insight.
Quotes from The Wind Weeps:
-I hoped to distract him. I could
see that there was a lot of turmoil just below the surface. The cabin
floor was covered with eggs that I needed to walk on very carefully.
-Would those tourists he talked
about find me long after I starved to death, nothing left but a
skeleton and scraps of my clothes? Why had I come here? Mom was
right. I should have stayed home and taken that office job.
-Jim lifted his hand in a wave to
us, as Robert pulled away to find a spot to anchor. I was glad he had
to mind the wheel. I stayed on deck to compose myself. I had to stop
smiling so hard or Robert would give me good reason to stop.
-I dreaded being in such a remote
place, alone without him. But even more, I dreaded being there alone
with him.
I really enjoyed reading this book, the setting too was amazing. Author Anneli Purchase lives in such a wonderful part of the world. It's now on my list of places to visit!
ReplyDeleteI hope you can do that, Linn. It would be quite an adventure.
