The Gathering Review by Chloe

TG  The Gathering (Darkness Rising #1) by Kelley Armstrong

Synopsis

Sixteen-year-old Maya is just an ordinary teen in an ordinary town. Sure, she doesn't know much about her background - the only thing she really has to cling to is an odd paw-print birthmark on her hip - but she never really put much thought into who her parents were or how she ended up with her adopted parents in this tiny medical-research community on Vancouver Island.

Until now.

Strange things have been happening in this claustrophobic town - from the mountain lions that have been approaching Maya to her best friend's hidden talent for "feeling" out people and situations, to the sexy new bad boy who makes Maya feel . . . . different.  Combine that with a few unexplained deaths and a mystery involving Maya's biological parents and it's easy to suspect that this town might have more than its share of skeletons in its closet.

In The Gathering, New York Times best-selling author Kelley Armstrong brings all the supernatural thrills from her wildly successful Darkest Powers series to Darkness Rising, her scorching hot new trilogy.

Chloe's Review - 4 out of 5

This book is based on a girl who doesn't know a thing about her real life.  It's basically about her trying to find her life. But will she find out the truth?

Every page makes you want to read on more.  I was struggling to put it down at night. Once you get about a quarter of a way though the book you get hints from the other characters  about  what they think happened.

In the book, Maya finds out secrets from a boy she doesn't like about her true life. But are they all true? There are also some characters from Kelley Armstrong's other books  that are in this book, but you do not need to read the other books with them in to understand this book.

I think if you are a  teen then you will really love this book . If you like adventures, some romance and suspense then you should definitely read it. I have started reading the second book and it is amazing, I'm not even half way yet. This is a book I definitely recommend.
