“Okay, Mrs. Jones, here’s the thing,” Yves said. “You put me in your books for the magic solutions I could bring to Earth, right?”

“Exactly. We need you down here to stop all the wars, and get rid of the guns, and .., well, I don’t really need to explain. You can see for yourself that Earth needs a whole lot of fixing.”

“No question. But with so much to do, why did you pick me. Why not one of the more experienced Powers? I’m a rookie on my first assignment. I’m bound to mess up.”

I had to chuckle. Of course he’d mess up. In fact he’d mess up for four whole novels before he got it right. I didn’t tell him that of course. Wouldn’t do for him to know about his future.

Yves stomped a foot. The most emotion I’d seen from him so far. So he could get mad. Good. He’d need emotions, a whole lot of them, to do the job well. In fact all of those supreme beings up there needed to loosen up or what would the universe come to? “Why me?”

“Trust me. You’re the one for this job.”

“How can you say that?” His voice rose to a sort of adolescent squeak. “Look at the mess I’ve made of things already. I’ve sent Em out on dangerous missions and haven’t even been able to communicate with her. I can’t let her know she won’t be hurt no matter what happens. How am I supposed to live with her questions and her fears knowing I’m the cause? Look at her!” His voice rose again. “She’s fighting. Hand to hand combat. Blood all over the place.” He blinked and Em’s filthy jui jitsu gi pants and t-shirt glowed spotlessly white in the mud and blood and mire of the battle.

I rubbed my hands together. Oh, this was good. Really good. Tension on every page just like the experts said. “Don’t worry,” I said. “It will all work out okay.”

Yves breathed a sigh of relief.

“Or not,” I said, thinking of the love triangle he’d soon be caught in.

EMBATTLED

Em’s life is hijacked by alien gods. Armed with the superpowers they give her, she’s supposed to fix the world’s problems. Trouble is, Yves, the alien controlling her, is a newbie and lousy at communication. He can’t figure out how to let her know she won’t be hurt as she barges into jungle battles, courtrooms filled with armed soldiers, and faces Taliban like zealots, defeating them all.

Yves manipulates the media to maintain constant attention on Em and her exploits. The world falls in love with this “madam of miracles.” Em doesn’t quite see it that way. She agonizes over the impact of her actions and whether or not they are right.

Em is not the only one confused and agonizing. Coming from the sterile world of the gods, Yves succumbs to human emotions. Jealousy takes over as he watches Em and her lover.

How will Em decide whether or not she wants this sci-fi life that’s been thrust on her? Can she ever really go back to a normal life? And Yves? Will he risk everything for his love of Em?

EMPOWERED

Visions she experienced as a child convince Jasmine that her soulmate exists and isn’t just a figment of romance novels. Jasmine pursues Victor relentlessly, believing he is “the one.” But Victor sees her as a nut case and wants nothing to do with her.

The visions also drive her to try to make the world a better place. She embarks on projects that appear foolish to others, but that make sense to her—solar ovens, prison reform …

Add a dream of reincarnation, sent by Yves, the alien controlling her, which promises much more than a lover; it’s a dream of danger that threatens Jasmine’s perfect life. Who was she before? Abby is convinced the clickings she hears in the fillings of her teeth are messages from aliens. She tells herself that’s crazy, but asks one of her students, computer nerd Curtis, to help her decipher the code. A secret code from aliens is a too sci-fi even for him, but once he starts studying Abby’s scribbles, he can see messages.

Coder Guy, as Abby calls whoever is sending the messages, wants her to fix things. What things? Abby and Curtis find the answer when letters with Abby’s signature appear in newspaper offices. The things asked for come true. But, who’s writing the letters? Coder Guy? Or Abby?

Meanwhile, Yves, who fell in love with Em, has loved her through her life as Jasmine, still loves her in this life as Abby. He fumes as the rookie god assigned to control Abby messes up. Will Yves break all the rules of his world to help Abby? Will she survive if he does?

EMBROILED

Emily doesn’t believe in heaven, but she has an insane desire to go “up there.” A yearning that’s so strong that she can no longer function in daily life. Even the wonderful Dr. David can’t help her find the answers she needs.

Then a stranger arrives claiming to be her soulmate, claiming to have loved her in other lives. She is inexorably drawn to him even as she runs from him.

To prove what he says is true, Yves takes her to his world. There she meets gods and Powers and people rescued from doomed planets—living the perfect heavenly life. She knows she belongs “up there” with Yves, but all is not as idyllic as it appears. Emily is the only one who sees the danger. Can she leave her family and friends to stay with Yves? Will she be able to save him and his world?

Author Bio

A long time ago, I lived in Mali. Every single day, I wished I could wave a magic wand to relieve the heart-wrenching poverty. The story line of my books reflects my desire to wave that wand and make the world a better place. If only wishes could come true. And of course, every novel needs its love story, so along with the sci-fi magic, I’ve added the requisite romance.

I've always believed we can't be the only beings existing in the vastness of the universe. There must be others “out there somewhere” and I brought some of them along for the ride.The setting stays, for the most part, within the realities of our world, but I've found that I love the magic the sci-fi element of other beings can bring to the story.
