Review: Silver Shadows by Richelle Mead

Silver Shadows (Bloodlines, #5)Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives.
In The Fiery Heart, Sydney risked everything to follow her gut, walking a dangerous line to keep her feelings hidden from the Alchemists.

Now in the aftermath of an event that ripped their world apart, Sydney and Adrian struggle to pick up the pieces and find their way back to each other. But first, they have to survive.

For Sydney, trapped and surrounded by adversaries, life becomes a daily struggle to hold on to her identity and the memories of those she loves. Meanwhile, Adrian clings to hope in the face of those who tell him Sydney is a lost cause, but the battle proves daunting as old demons and new temptations begin to seize hold of him. . . .

Their worst fears now a chilling reality, Sydney and Adrian face their darkest hour in this heart-pounding fifth instalment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where all bets are off

Shona's review 5 of 5 stars

It seems like forever since the last instalment in this series and as my Facebook friends will tell you I was rather impatient waiting for my copy of Silver Shadows to arrive. Once I opened this book I barely put it down until it was done. That's how addictive this series is, how well written these books are, how awesome Richelle Mead is... OK so now I'm gushing.

Writing this review without spoilers is gonna be hard.. there is SO much I wanna tell you. And there's SO much that happens that once you hit a certain point in the book there is no chance of being able to step away, the action grabs you and carries you along. I swear when the book ended I actually needed to stop and catch my breath.

When Fiery Heart ended I wondered how we were going to get Sydney back from this, how Adrian was going to survive this... and Mead has worked her magic in ways I never dreamed was possible. At several points in the book I cried with Sydney and for Adrian. My poor Adrian Ivashkov, always underestimated, never taken seriously. All those people who called themselves friends and family and yet they didn't have a clue what he was going through. And despite having to battle his spirit demons as well as struggling with his worries for Sydney and the realisation that he might never find her again he somehow manages to find the strength to do what needs to be done.
Sydney who always puts the needs of others before her own... trapped in an Alchemists re-education centre and what does she do? Puts herself in jeopardy trying to help other people. But then she wouldn't be our Sage if she didn't help. Sydney grew quite a bit in this book, proved how strong she was mentally and surprised me by doing a few things I didn't think she ever would.

The question left to ask now is what will become of Sydrian in The Ruby Circle? And why do we have to wait until next year to find out? *pouts*

Claire's Review 5 of 5 Stars

Silvers shadows to me has to be the BEST book yet out of the bloodline series! Now its been a while since the last book was released and we were all left wondering what would happen to Sydney at the end of The Fiery Heart, and wow this installment did not disappoint!

This book was full of action and was fast paced that left you wanting to turn the page to find out what would happen next and unable to put it down! (in fact I sat up in to the middle of the night to finish is as I literally could not put it down until I got to the very last page).

We see how things have changed at court and how Adrian has grown as a person even though he does have his weaknesses we all love him for, but his love for Sydney conquers through them. We see how strong Sydney is as a person and how she still is looking out for others despite what she is going through herself, and we see the truth behind the alchemists re-education centre, all exciting stuff!!

Now there is only one big problem here.....the next book isn't out for ages!!!!!!!!!!!!
