Wait for You ARC review

Wait for You (Wait for You, #1)Wait for You by J. Lynn

Synopsis

Some things are worth waiting for…

Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe—please God—make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.

Some things are worth experiencing…

Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.

Some things should never be kept quiet…

But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she’s has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?

And some things are worth fighting for…

Shona's review 5 of 5 stars.

I have literally just finished reading this and my brain is still swimming from its awesomeness. I know this is a little clichéd but this book had me hooked from just the first few pages. Avery is a very likeable character and although we dont get details as to what exactly happened to her but we get enough to understand why she reacts certain ways. As she gets closer to Cam I kept expecting her to let him know what happened, for him to magically wipe away all the hurt and anger, for their relationship to be this perfect 'he loves me so everything is fine with the world' but that's not what happens. what happens is so truthfully honest that it had me in tears. Time after time Avery pushes Cam away, convinced that her past will prevent her from having a happy ever after, or even a happy for now. Her past chews up their relationship and spits  it back at them. She has to fight every step of the way for their relationship. And that's what makes this so enjoyable, not her misery but the fact that it  feels so damn real. I lost count of how many times I wanted to reach inside the book and shake Avery, shout at her that Cam doesn't see things like that, to hug her and tell her that its Ok and that it's not her fault.

This story and the relationship between Avery and Cam unfolded slowly. At a great pace. Nothing was rushed, which ultimately is what makes this book so awesome. This is the first time I have read anything by Lynn/Armentrout but if her other books are this well written it's safe to say that it wont be my last.

Thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins for the eARC. This is definitely a book I need on my paperback shelf.
