Lisa's Review 3 out of 5 stars

It has been years since the release of The Devil Wears Prada, a book that I loved, and following that, the release of the film, that, even with the big changes they made to from the book, is one of my favourite book-to-films, mainly in part for Meryl Streep's fantastic portrayal of the cold hearted Miranda Priestly. So I was rather excited when I discovered the follow up book, and had high hopes for Revenge Wears Prada.

We catch up with Andy 10 years after that famous exit on Paris. She is on the verge of being married, and running her own magazine with her ex Runway enemy, Emily, who surprisingly is now one of Andy;s best friends. This in itself seemed a bit of a stretch for me, and although the forming of their new friendship was covered, it seemed kind of skimmed over and more detail needed to go into it.

As for the rest of the book, it seemed kind of mundane. There just wasn't enough excitement - ok, being honest, there wasn't enough Miranda! The lack of Miranda in this book makes the reader realise just how much of The Devil Wears Prada relied on her character as to Andy's, and she just does not make enough of an impact to make The Revenge Wears Prada as fast paced and exciting as its predecessor.

The whole book had slow feel to it, even some of the more exciting parts of Andy's life just didn't seem that - well exciting! Being a working mum, wife etc just doesn't grip a reader, I'm afraid. It was good to see where Andy's life had moved on to 10 years on, but this book was just lacking that spark that made it brilliant! Even the ending, which was dragged out for a good portion of over half the book, was predictable, and the new characters lacked any depth.

Maybe the fact that the first book was made into such an iconic film because of the actresses, if there was to be a follow up book it needed to be s epic as the first, and unfortunately this failed.
